Unity Music Team: Lifting Spirits Through Song

At Unity, we are blessed with an incredibly talented and passionate music team led by Lori and Ken. Their inspiring music uplifts the spirit, creating a harmonious atmosphere that enhances our shared experience.

Throughout the year, our music team delivers heartfelt performances that bring joy, reflection, and connection to our community. A few times a year, we open the opportunity for others to join in by singing with our choir—a beautiful way to share in the power of music and unity.

We are always looking for new talent to join our team, whether it's playing an instrument, singing, or helping run the sound board.

If you have a passion for music and want to be part of something special, we’d love to hear from you!

Join us in celebrating the power of music!

Meet Our Music Team

Lori Muligano

Vocals & Keyboard

Lori’s smooth, sweet vocals coupled with her flowing piano style add to her arrangements of the positive & inspirational songs she loves to share on a Sunday morning. Having grown up with a musical mom, Lori continued her vocal and piano training even after college, where she earned her degree in music therapy. She has taught piano and voice lessons since her 20s and she still teaches today. You will often find Lori leading music on the platform at Unity on a Sunday morning. One of her favorite things to do these days is to choose the perfect songs to support the talk and knit those songs into the service.

Vocals & Guitar

Ken Johnson’s unique mix of soaring vocals and folk/rock guitar stylings have made him a popular performer throughout the midwest. He loves the music he grew up with: 60’s and 70’s pop/folk/rock - but also mixes in material from a variety of contemporary artists. His ability to deliver a song in an intimate and powerful way makes him a popular performer at concerts,
weddings, church services, and any event where music is a focal point.
Ken was a pioneer in the use of computer technology in music education and has participated in the consultation and implementation phases of music technology programs for thousands of schools K-20 throughout North America, including groundbreaking work designing keyboard and guitar labs for VH1 Save the Music. He now works as a performer and voice teacher, making his home in Woodstock, Illinois.

Alpha

Vocals & Drums

I have been doing music, in one form or another since grammar school. My musical interest started when I first heard “Rapsody in Blue”. I didn’t know that so much could be conveyed through music and the way a piece could go through so many changes but still keep its core essence. I wanted to be a part of that kind of experience, sharing my love for making something with others.

I’ve run the gambit of musical combination. Everything from rock bands, orchestras, jazz groups and variations of church music ensembles.

I arrived at Unity Spiritual Center via Tricia Alexander and am now enjoying shared musical explorations with USCW music leads Lori Muligano and Ken Johnson.

Besides having fun playing I’m also meeting great people at USC. A win, win situation for me.
