August, 2026
For 2026, all twelve months of tips will follow a common theme: 12 Powers for our Planet, based on the national Unity EarthCare program. The Unity 12 Powers will also be explored yearlong at USCW through our Fourth Sunday themed services.
This month we explore the power of Will.
Power 7 – Will
The Unity spiritual power of Will is our executive capacity, our ability to get things done. It involves choice, resolve, and willingness to release willfulness and resistance.
“Will” as one of the 12 Powers is different from Divine Will. Divine Will isn't specific or restricted; it’s an open, collective force we all share and shape together.
The Power of Will in an EarthCare context can be seen as the Will of Nature, which refers to the natural and physical laws and processes that govern the universe.
Unity believes that all Creation, all nature – human and non-human – is sacred and divine. Beyond the noise of consumer culture lies a simple truth: we do not merely inhabit nature—we belong to it.
Will can be positive or negative.
We acknowledge the damage done by misguided human willfulness as evident in the wide-scale destruction of species and ecosystems, destabilization of Earth’s climate, and other unconscious and short sighted activities.
But we can take positive actions in our personal, professional and spiritual lives to improve the relationship of our human race with all of the rest of creation.
With Wisdom as our guide and Will as our tool, we can mend our bond with the Earth and care for our planetary home.
