Unity EarthCare October: The Power of Zeal ~
Unity 12 Powers EarthCare Tip of the Month
October, 2026
For 2026, all twelve months of tips will follow a common theme: 12 Powers for our Planet, based on the national Unity EarthCare program. The Unity 12 Powers will also be explored yearlong at USCW through our Fourth Sunday themed services.
This month we explore the power of Zeal.
Power 10 – Zeal
The Unity spiritual power of Zeal is our inner spiritual flame, divine enthusiasm, and the driving motivation that propels us forward in life.
Zeal moves us toward working for a divine purpose, our stewardship of all life on this planet.
The natural world is abundant with exuberant demonstrations of zeal and aliveness. Consider that there have been five great extinctions of life on Earth. And then new life returns and continues to evolve.
The modern environmental movement was founded through Zeal, codified through the 1990 creation of the now familiar annual Earth Day observation.
Much progress has been made in restoring waterways, land and natural areas, protecting species, collaboratively addressing the depletion of the protective ozone layer, and more.
Still, problems persist in our world.
There are forces which are trying to undo the gains we won in protecting species, protecting wilderness, minimizing pollution.
The biggest existential crisis facing us is climate change, relentlessly reshaping our Earth home, with observable increases in the twin disasters of fires
and floods.
We have the Divine power to face these problems with Zeal
in whatever ways each of us can.
